From SimplyHired.com)

Computer Science : $56,921
Marketing : $43,459
Engineering : $56,336
Chemical engineering : $63,749
Civil engineering : $49,427
electrical engineering : $56,512
mechanical engineering : $56,429
finance : $48,795
accounting : $47,413
business administration and management : $43,823
Economics - $52,926
Nursing - $52,129
Chemistry - $52,125
Political science/government - $43,594
Human resources - $40,250
History - $35, 956
English language and literature - $34,757
Journalism - $32,250
Psychology - $30,877
Public relations/organizational communications - $30, 667

Landscaping and groundskeeping worker
$10.22/hour; $21,260/year

Electronic home entertainment equipment installer/repairer
$14.42/hour; $29,980/year

Terrazzo worker and finisher
$15.21/hour; $31,630/year

Highway maintenance worker
$15.67/hour; $32,600/year

Security and fire alarm systems installer
$16.73/hour; $34,810/year

Computer, automated teller and office machine repairer
$17.54/hour; $36,480/year

Tile and marble setter
$17.59/hour; $36,590/year

Heating, air-conditioning and refrigeration mechanic and installer

$19.46/hour; $40,480/year

Subway and street-car operator
$23.55/hour; $48,980/year

I totally agree with the article because I was born in korea, but grew up in both taiwan and US. I graduated from the college in US with electrical engineering degree undergraduate, and currently working in Taiwan. Be honest, I still can't stand why our salary is getting paid so little compared to Korean or Japan. If you are in taipei and dine out there either for lunch or dinner, you probably have to pay at least 7 to 8 US dollars per meal normally at restaurant. Other daily expenses are almost equally not too much differenece than other asian countries, but our pay is at least twice less than those nations.

What really pisses me off is if you are trying to buy a house in Taipei city area, let me tell you a truth; with your currently normal salary in Taiwan, you won't get half of that house even you work so hard in your life. I just keep wondering... where did the rest of salary which we are supposed to have go then??? Employers or what?

Korean labor unit has been constantly fighting for their rights of rasing average salaries all the time; because as economy grows, they believe they deserve better packages. Look at us, the article pointed out we seem to be used to this low-paid environment all the time so our salaries are not even increasing at all!

By the way, I work at IT field, and I believe my paid in Taiwan is probably the lowest among all of my old classmates in US college.
