Mindset list for the Class 2014是什麼東西? 這是威斯康辛州內的一所大學Beloit College(伯洛伊特學院)為今年2010年入學,2014年畢業的新生所列出的心態表。
這個心態表就代表了出生於網路世代的普遍認知,這些八年級生,他們的生長環境就是數位化、網路化、自動化的社會,他們想的、看的絕對跟四、五、六年級不同,也跟七年級生有所差異。
自1998年以來每年8月,伯洛伊特學院都會發布這個Mindset List。 它提供了一個整體的概念來描述這個秋天即將入學的新新人類,讓大家能夠知道如何與他們相處。Mindset List最初的用意為提醒教師需要注意的事項,以便知道這個迅速變化的一代又一代。
現今這代大學生已經習慣韓國製造的汽車、500台有線電視頻道、數位已經是身上的DNA一部份、不會寫草書、看手機的時間而不需要手錶、 骯髒的哈里是他們偉大的好萊塢導演、 繼承了一個飆升的美國貿易赤字和預算赤字 … 他們將要享受大學, 其中男性有可能是變成少數,他們將帶著iPhone和黑莓,打電話將只是很多功能中的一項, 現在的他們不會區分訊息和知識, 因此教授們必須知道如何幫助他們。
他們習於即時的訊息但還是要知道如何耐心的取得獎學金,他們將發現如何進行研究的資料由書籍和期刊取得,而不只是在網上 … 2014級的新生提醒了我們,再一次,這一代人來來去去,正提醒的是 ~ 我們,變老了。
以上是美國的2014級大學生的樣貌,如果換成台灣的大學新生,應該如何描述呢? 也許各大學也可以思考看看,不需要老是面對這群學生以後只能搖頭,而不知道如何與他們相處。
這個 Mindset List 不僅讓學校的老師知道來者何人,也讓老土豆們知道如何了解這群草莓族,兩者沒有優劣,只是環境不同所形成。

這個Mindset list for the Class 2014,很值得台灣思考,與其說台大人不能進演藝圈、批評上課時間學生有人吃泡麵、有人啃雞腿、有人打開電腦看連續劇 … 這個社會的「大人們」跟媒體的價值觀,給了大家什麼樣的示範,大家摸摸良心,下一代是怎麼樣子,不是一天兩天造成的。
台灣第一:青少年上了網路的癮
電腦,已經成為台灣青少年書桌上必備新文房法寶,經由網路,聽音樂、看影片,完成社交、競賽、分享、票選等日常活動,掛網路過人生的行徑,在亞洲沒人比他們瘋!
思緯(Synovate)市場資訊公司在2010年第2季透過面對面及網路方式進行「亞洲青年」調查,共訪問12,302名來自兩岸三地、韓國等亞洲11個不同市場的8到24歲青少年,結果由台灣青少年拿下多項第1:
─9成家裡擁有桌上型電腦,遠超過全亞洲平均的62%。
─2/3經由網路聽音樂。
─54%使用過部落格,41%即使不在部落格留言,仍會閱讀他人的部落格。3成有經營自己的部落格。
─19%會使用微網誌。
─超過3成會參與網上論壇/討論區。
─使用即時通的比例達62%。
─1/5曾參加網路競賽或票選活動,高於亞洲地區平均數10%。
─電視遊樂器持有率30%。
─在沒有任何誘因下,有38%願意接收網路廣告,高於亞洲國家平均值27%。
─汽車擁有率62%,高於亞洲地區的24%。
思緯台灣區總經理張麗香表示,研究證明台灣年輕一代在網路科技的領先度及對社群網路的重視度,遠高於亞洲其他國家。他們願意透過網路接收更多資訊,意味網路行銷存在無限商機。之前賣座國片「海角七號」或今年初的「艋舺」,都是運用網友宣傳,以支持國片、愛台灣等口號行銷成功。
據調查,部落格是台灣青少年最喜歡的網路活動,再來是社交網站。在網路社群發表意見與分享資訊,兩岸青少年都熱中,台灣青少年有19%在瀏覽網頁時曾點選網路廣告,與香港和中國相似,也都高於其他亞洲國家。
據法新社報道,美國威斯康辛州的貝洛伊特學院每年都會針對大學新生進行一項調查,為了是更加了解新學生的想法,以量身制定教學方案。但調查結果顯示大多數今年進入大學的美國學生大多不會寫英文草書,認為電子郵件太慢而不使用,不帶手錶,只知道“米開朗基羅”是一種電腦病毒,並認為“貝多芬”是條狗。後來發現,有部名為《我家也有貝多芬》的電影裏叫“貝多芬”的狗是在太有名了。
貝洛伊特學院的兩位教授麥克布萊德(Tom McBride)和涅夫(Ron Nief)1998年首次製作這份“大學新生心態表”,以讓其他教學工作者了解有關“大學新生生活背後的文化經驗”,以避免使用“過時的參考資料和想法”進行教學與交流。
這些預定於2014年畢業的大學新生,大多不會寫英文草書;他們認為美國和俄羅斯太空人一直在太空站一起生活;不知道斯洛伐克是從“捷克斯洛伐克”獨立出來的國家;菲姬(Fergie)指的是美國樂團“黑眼豆豆”女主唱,而不是英國前王妃約克郡公爵夫人;克林特伊斯特伍德是導演,而不是“緊急追捕令”的男主角;美國前網球名將馬克安諾是電視廣告明星;認為“薩拉熱窩”是一個戰場而不是奧運東道主;只知道“香蕉共和國”是一個品牌而不知道之前拉丁美洲不少國家的傀儡政權曾被叫做這個名字。
涅夫表示:“有一些年齡25-26歲的青年人看了這份調查表後覺得,他們已經太老了跟不上這些受訪年輕人的想法了。”
